Auto Insurance FAQ's

Can I choose any glass shop to install my glass?
Yes. Per Arizona state law (ARS 20-469) you have the right to choose any glass repair facility for the repair of a loss relating to motor vehicle glass. No need to call your agent or insurance company first. Contact Glas Tek direct and we will be happy to help you file your claim and answer all of your questions or concerns.

Will filing an auto glass claim affect my rates?
No, Arizona state law (ARS 20-263) states that a “no fault claim” for windshield replacement will not raise your rates. Therefore, your insurance company cannot raise your rates due to accidents caused by flying objects, vandalism, extreme temperatures, natural disasters, or kicked up rocks.

Did you know that Arizona State Legislature (20-264) states that Arizona comprehensive policyholders be offered full glass coverage?

ARS (20-264) states that any insurer writing private passenger automobile insurance which includes comprehensive coverage for motor vehicle damage must provide the option of complete coverage for the repair or replacement of all damaged safety equipment without the regard to any deductible.

What glass does my insurance company cover under my comprehensive coverage?
Most insurance companies will cover all glass including; windshields, door glasses, vent glasses, quarter glasses, back glasses and sometimes even mirrors under comprehensive coverage.

Can my insurance company force me to have my windshield repaired rather than replaced?
No, insurance companies would prefer to repair your windshield rather than replace because it saves money, time, and it keeps the original structure intact. In fact, most insurance companies will recommend that you have your windshield repaired if it is less than the size of a dollar bill. However, repairing a windshield will not make the damage disappear.  The damage may clear up about 60%-80%; however you will be able to see the impact point when completed. Keep in mind that NO two windshield repairs will come out alike. Many factors play a role in the success of the repair including: contamination, size, damage, and time. Remember, a repaired windshield is guaranteed to keep from spreading any further.  However, it is not a cosmetic fix. Therefore, it is to the policyholder’s discretion if they would like it repaired or replaced.

Is filing an insurance claim difficult?
No, it can be completed in less than five minutes. Call us direct or file on line with your policy number and we will walk you through the process. The process consists of connecting you to your insurance company to file the claim and scheduling your appointment.

What will my insurance company ask?
They will ask a series of questions including; the date of loss, the size and location of the break, where the incident occurred, and are you holding anyone responsible? What? That means did the break occur from a flying rock, accident, or vandalism? Be warned, if it was vandalism or an accident they will start another series of questions to determine if the claim is a comprehensive (glass only) loss, comprehensive (with other damage) or a collision loss. They will want to know if you are claiming any other damage or loss to the vehicle. For instance, was there body damage or items stolen? If there was other damage or theft then your deductible may apply.

What if I don’t know the date of loss?
The date of loss can simply be an estimated date that the damage occurred. Your insurance company representative will need a “specific” date to file your claim. So, if the damage occurred sometime in January; just choose a date such as the 15th.

How long will the phone call take?
In most cases, the process takes less than five minutes.

Will you overcharge my insurance company?
No, we honor all insurance pricing; therefore there will be NO out of pocket cost for you when you carry full glass coverage. Additionally, we have contracts with most insurance companies therefore pricing is predetermined. Furthermore, those rates are normally covered during the call between you, your insurance company, and us; therefore, there are no hidden charges.

Do I need to contact my insurance agent or insurance company in advance?
No, we can help you report the claim and obtain coverage verification. Just give Glas Tek a call and we will be happy to assist you in filing your claim. Or, File a claim Now!

What if I don’t know if I have a deductible?

No problem. Give us a call and we will help you report the claim and obtain insurance coverage. It doesn’t hurt to ask, right? If you have a deductible, we will give you all your options and let you decide what is best for you.

What if I have a deductible?
First, be sure that you or your insurance company representative is not confusing your glass coverage with comprehensive coverage or collision coverage. Most Arizona auto glass losses are covered under comprehensive as long as no other damage is being claimed. You can have a $250 comprehensive deductible and a $0 glass deductible.

If you have a high deductible such as $250 the cash cost of the glass may be lower. Therefore, you may want to Get a Cash Quote to compare. If the cost is lower than your deductible than it would be wise not to file a claim. This will help “save” a claim from being filed on your insurance policy.

If you have a deductible that is $50.00 dollars or less we will be happy to waive that for you. However, no other specials or promotions can be honored.

Additionally, many major insurance companies offer this coverage at a very affordable cost to you. Therefore, many Arizona policyholders carry this coverage without even knowing it.

What if I only have liability insurance?
Liability insurance only provides coverage for damages to another vehicle; therefore, auto glass would not be covered under that policy. However, we do have competitive cash prices that can be paid by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. Get a Quote Now!

Will my insurance company waive my deductible if I have it repaired?
Most likely. Many insurance companies will waive deductibles and pay 100% of the repair. This means that if you have a $50-$1000 comprehensive deductible and your windshield is repairable then your insurance provider will cover the entire cost of the repair.

I have aftermarket tint on my window will it be replaced?
Yes, if it is an insurance claim, then your insurance company will pay to have the aftermarket tint reapplied. At Glas Tek, we do not provide aftermarket tint; however, we will give you the contact information of a preferred contractor. We will also take care of the complete billing so that there will be NO cost to you.
