Glendale is a city in a Maricopa County located roughly 9 miles Northwest from Downtown Phoenix. The population of the city is estimated to be about 250,000 residents. When the Jobing.com Arena, which was formerly considered the Glendale Arena opened, the Phoenix Coyotes began playing in Glendale along with NLL’s Arizona Sting. The Jobing.com Arena opened in December 2003 and since has been the host of many concerts and special events. Also new to the city of Glendale is the home of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, the University of Phoenix Stadium which opened in August 2006. The University of Phoenix stadium hosted the first championship game where the Arizona Cardinal beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XLII, in the year 2008.
Glendale is often called “Arizona’s Antique Capital” and is also the location to the Arrowhead Towne Center mall which is located in the northwest part of the city. Glendale also has the metro Phoenix’s first medical school named Midwestern, and also the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Glendale is the home of the Arizona Cardinals, the team use to play at the Sun Devil Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University located near Tempe. In the year 2006 Arizona Cardinals started playing at the University of Phoenix Stadium. The stadium was featured on the popular TV show called Modern Marvels on The History Channel.
