It’s master-planned community. The sales of land began in 1955 and homebuilding began in 1958. Carefree Arizona has a very strong Western heritage which gives some of it’s street names such as Bloody Basin, Easy Street, Ho-and-Hum Roads, Tranquil and Long Rifle. The motto of Carefree is “Home of the Cowboys an Caviar, Where the Old West Meets the New.”
