farmers-rakeIn a series of unfortunate events, a Kerang woman experienced a lucky escape after an unusual object became embedded in her windshield. ‘

She was driving on Kerang-Koondrook Road when a farmer’s rake flew into the auto glass on her front window. Driving in the 100km/hr zone, the accident could have been much worse.

Just how did the rake get on the road in the first place? Well, that is a bit of a mystery for investigators and the insurance company. It could have fallen from a car going by, or been on the road already and projected into the air by another car. Police are investigating, and asking anyone with information to call the Kerang police department.

An embedded rake could have caused severe injury, or even death. Luckily for this 50-year old woman, neither of those serious problems occurred. First Constable Travis Collier described the event as a freak accident, and explained the motorist only received minor cuts from the breaking window.

She was taken to the hospital, but her release followed shortly. It definitely could have been worse according to Collier. If the rake were only “a couple of inches” to one side, her face would have received the bulk of the impact.
